Hello all!
How are we halfway through the 2020's? 2026 is still shaping up, so hopefully there will be more news!
January has a handful of public gigs, including Downtown Disney with Holy Crow on 1/8, my monthly guest spot with Ellen Warkentine at the Exhibition Room on 1/10, a bass gig with Corey's Dixiebop quartet on 1/11, and a debut for Big Buttter in downtown Long Beach on the promenade on 1/17.
Then there's my usual appearance at the Ohana Ukulele's booth at the NAMM show, and then will be teaching at the sold out Strum in the Desert, in El Centro, CA hosted by ukulele celebrity Bernadette "Plazi" Plazola!
February 17th is Mardi Gras, so expect to see Big Butter around then!
In late March, Big Butter will be returning to Agua Caliente Casino in Palm Springs to play the Carousel Jazz Series.
We'll be applying to summer concert series soon, let me know if there's one I should hit up!
2025 RECAP
Bright spots - getting to go to Bernadette "Plazi" Plazola's Strum in the Desert Festival, hanging out at the Orange County Ukulele Festival, getting to play the final Dapper Day Expo at the Disneyland Hotel with Big Butter, and teaching for the first time at the Centrum Foundation's Ukulele Festival in May up in Port Townsend, WA.
In June I taught for Starlight Ukes' UkeWest Online Festival, and started the annual series of dates with Holy Crow Jazz Band at Knott's Berry Farm.
In mid-July I went to the Midwest Ukulele and Harmonica Camp in Toledo, OH for the first time and had a great time teaching U-bass, and got to return again to Port Townsend for Centrum's Acoustic Blues Festival.
September brought the annual Los Angeles Ukulele Festival where I backed up my pal Bernadette Mata and in October I got to return to the fantastic Reno Ukulele Festival, and once again played for the Anaheim Fall Festival with the Big Butter Jazz Band.
For Q4, I've got 3 duo dates in November at the Exhibition Room in Long Beach, and December is still filling out.
